TRAINING
Weekly Training
Starting in September, every Monday from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm 2824 Army Cadets conducts local training at three company locations. Local training involves practical and class-based lessons on leadership, expedition, citizenship, problem solving, and physical fitness. Consistent attendance of weekly training strengthens applications for advanced regional and national training opportunities and internal promotions within the corps.
Weekend Training
To complement weekly local training, 2824 Army Cadets regularly offers weekend training hosted throughout the GTA and often CFB Borden. Weekend training focuses on outdoor activities such as orienteering and navigation, expedition skills, hiking, biking, and canoeing.
Summer Training
Summer training opportunities are hosted throughout Canada and offer unique experiences for cadets of all ages. In Years 1 and 2 (ages 12 to 14), summer training is hosted within the GTA. As cadets progress through the program, summer training is delivered at Canadian Forces Bases throughout the country. All travel and accommodation expenses for national summer training activities are paid for by the CAF.
Voulunteering
Volunteerism is a core part of Army Cadet training. Through various activities supporting local causes, as well as opportunities for senior cadets to volunteer as staff during training, 2824 Army Cadets enables cadets to obtain volunteer hours for school.
